Each week in class someone presents about an artist they find interesting from our book Ice Cream. Yesterday we learned a little bit about Nick Currie, who goes by the nickname "Momus". Momus is the greek god of mockery, which just from his nickname gives you an idea of what he is about. Although everything he does is kind of one big joke, he is sooo serious about his work. He considers him self a songwriter, artist, performer, and a pop star. We actually did find out that he has screaming girls following him around Japan, I guess he is a hit over there! He is so strange and interesting and very entertaining. He does have a eyepatch so that's kind of cool. He washed his contact with greek tap water, so the bacteria built up and took his eye out! Crazy! Another strange fact- he likes to be hooded. I find his music videos to be hilarious and would like to share a couple. If you are looking for something to do in your spare time, you can search on YouTube for more ridiculous videos. I don't want to make it seem like I think this guy's work is not worth viewing because he is actually extremely intelligent, which is probably why he is so crazy.
